A brand new color sorting machine from Italy has been operating at our place in Scherpenisse since 2023. Where traditional machines mainly sort by shape and weight, this system can also select according to the color of each seed. In doing so, we are taking an important step in the further professionalization of seed processing.

The machine is equipped with the latest camera techniques that take pictures of all the seeds that pass by. Based on these images, the computer decides which seeds are suitable and which should be excreted. This way, vegetable seeds and flower seeds are processed even more cleanly. The result: batches of seeds that meet the high quality requirements of breeders and growers worldwide.

Unique in the sector

We have only been active in seed propagation for a few years; we work with growers in the southwest of the Netherlands to produce basic and pre-basic seeds such as spinach, radish, beetroot, carrots, lettuce and cabbage. With the arrival of this new machine, we are not inferior to the large multinationals in the seed industry.

Own recipe book

A special part of the machine is the so-called “recipe book”. Specific settings are set for each crop, so that the sorting exactly matches the properties of that seed. We now have hundreds of recipes and that number grows every season. This allows the machine to be used optimally for various batches of vegetable and flower seeds.

Future-oriented investing

The investment in this color sorting machine is a conscious choice to control the entire process — from contract cultivation and cultivation supervision to processing, packaging and distribution. By building up the knowledge of the machine itself, the company remains independent of suppliers and can respond quickly to the needs of customers.

With this expansion, we will continue to provide the international seed market and customers with reliable seeds that have been carefully grown and processed.
